Emerald Lake Park, Victoria, Australia
Emerald Lake Rd, Emerald, Victoria, Australia 3782
Eagles Nest Theatre Company presents ‘Women of Troy’.Written in 415BC, Euripides’s play is centred during the turbulent Trojan war and the falling of the City of Troy under the waring Spartan Army. Contrary to many other works of the age, Euripides’s play focuses on the lives of the women of ancient Troy. With their city destroyed, their husbands and families gone, the women of Troy must face this traumatic event and survive a tragedy that shapes their lives and changes their world forever. The drama invokes strikingly current parallels to the issues women are still facing in our modern world such as segregation, violence, abuse and objectifying. Both reflective and confrontational, the play asks the question; ‘how far have we really come’?Eagles Nest Theatre is presenting this play as part of their continuing celebration of Women’s Theatre. So bring your friends, a picnic hamper and relax in the outdoor surroundings while soaking up a summer days’ performance.Women of Troy is an outdoor live event involving drama, music, dance, circus & visual art forms. Women of Troy will feature a large ensemble of strong female and gender-fluid performers from diverse backgrounds.TICKETS
